Privatising Water. If the water situation is so hazardous, as we have been seeing in the previous posts, why does government not get rid of it and privatise it? This is a solution that has worked in the past for other such difficult and messy departments as electricity and health. Government might even make some money from water, for a change.
It turns out that just that solution was arrived at and agreed on several years ago. The United Front had it in their Political Manifesto during the general elections. Government has even committed to taking just that step. The European Union gave financial aid for improving and developing
My information is that a Water Corporation Act was even drafted by the Attorney-General’s Chambers. It has, apparently, even been published in a Gazette for discussion. This was several years ago. Nothing has happened since. The latest story is that they are in the process of hiring a consultant to advise before the Bill is enacted. That must be the twentieth consultant on
Can we have a little leadership in this place?
A statesman knows that the people must control government. A politician believes that government should control people.

Management is a career. Leadership is a calling.

Over the past few months Victor has sold all his 10% and 20% holdings in the foreign-owned businesses that he licensed to do business in Anguilla. This is to help his leadership bid in the next election. Any one else heard anything?
ReplyDeleteIf the writer expects anyone to believe these allegations he's going to have to provide believable details. This is a place for serious discussion, not The Light.
ReplyDeleteWhat evidence exists that Victor will stand again for election?
ReplyDeleteThere are two dark horses - male and female candidates exploring running for District 4. I understand one political party is actively pursuing them and another yet to form political party wants to field candidates in all districts. The only problem while their character is unquestionable, it appears nothing much is known about their personal lives. In AXA you must have an imfamous personal life to win districts. lol

ReplyDeleteThere is something in that last post that rings true. Paul Southwell of St Kitts once told me (in my family planning days when we were having a discussion) that the reason he was glad he had children by 30 different women was that it guaranteed he would always win his seat!!

You asked if we can have leadership or management. Erase those words out of Anguilla's books. Most of the leaders or managers are far from managers. They only hold positions, nothing else.
ReplyDeleteAnguilla should have a close down day, stop and start all over. Look at what is happening in all sectors of Anguilla and you would have to wonder. The only place seemed to be functioning properly now in Anguilla is the Hotels, brother once you work there you better work or pack up. The civil service leaders are a joke.
